inyl resins were increasingly used in the production of shoes and accessories, in heels, soles and with cloth uppers because of the flexibility of the material, the ease with which it could be printed, the variety of possible colours and its strength. The full potential of these materials was realised in the Fifties. In 1955 Ferragamo, who often used vinyl, especially for uppers, launched his transparent, invisible and indestructible sole.
